Just wanted to share our FIRST home grown egg breakfast!
I am such a proud Mama! I was honestly not expecting to get eggs this year, but were pleasantly surprised to find our very first egg this past Sunday morning. We have gotten an egg a day since. Today we confirmed that it is Scarlett who is laying them; our little Rhodie is growing up. I am now holding out hope that at least one of the other chickens will join in the egg party. We haven't eaten any yet. I was waiting until we had enough for all of us to partake in their goodness. We have all put in work making their home, feeding, and entertaining them. It is only fair we all get to eat the inaugural eggs. Hopefully by Saturday or Sunday we will have enough for a family breakfast.
I love fall! Halloween has come and gone, we had such a blast! Linus & the Great Pumpkin rocked their outfits and the Lil' Devil had fun without too many evil deeds. It is getting cold outside and I have renewed my love for cloudy skies, not that I have a choice in the matter. The last couple of days have been sunny and crisp, the leaves are just gorgeous! Oregon in the fall is the place to be!
Last week Jade had her school Jog-a-thon, called RUN-TOBER. She did an amazing job, completing 9 laps for a total of 3 miles! Jade is not the fastest mover at home, so I was really impressed with her effort. Come to find out later she probably could have done a lot more, but she was stopping at the snack table with every lap. Had to keep that energy up. She raised $40 for her school and had a great time doing it! Chad and I volunteered to be lap counters and had a good time getting to know some of the kids that Jade spends her day with.
Roan is potty training! We are on week 3. He is doing a great job, and can go days without accidents. This may not seem like news to many other people, but I am very excited. I am looking forward to having only 1 child in diapers. He is also putting bigger sentences together. It is almost like talking to a real person. He has so much fun working on his preschool activities & I am having fun too! He loves playing with play dough and is finally at an age that he doesn't try to eat it... too often. He has all of his letters down and we are working on recognizing numbers too. Also has a new found love of dinosaurs and tractors thanks to some wonderful toys handed down from his cousins Hunter and Cade.
Ayla is doing all sorts of wonderful things. She pulls up on furniture and crawls all over the place. I am thankful for our baby proof play room downstairs! We were in the middle of remodeling that space when Roan was this age, and I can attest the the fact that having a truly baby friendly space makes life a lot easier. The only challenge we have is keeping the big kid's small toys picked up.
Coming up this week: Girl Scouts, more potty training, and fall clean up!
