Sitting around the dinner table with my family is one of the most enjoyable parts of my day. It can also be one of the most stressful things to achieve. I work 3 days a week, Mondays - all day, Wednesdays - in the afternoon, and Fridays - all day. My Massage schedule has been pretty light, so I am often home mid days and spend a lot of time at work filing. I know, rough life. Chad works 45+ hours a week and isn't home until 6pm, but does get to work from home on Fridays. We generally come together about 6:15 with a deer in the headlights look on our faces and try to come up with something nutritious last minute. As long as we keep the veggie drawer stocked, we are generally successful.
The thing I love best about sitting around the table is it gives the kids the opportunity to talk to us and, usually, give us the opportunity to listen without distractions. I keep meaning to write down all the funny things that are said during this special family time, but never have. So, in no particular order, I will start to share some past and present funny Kidisms with you.
"Mom, I can't eat soup"
"I just feel terrible." With arms crossed and a very serious face.
"There are a lot of funny kids in my class. I am one of the funniest."
I have no words to describe this week. We are all pretty exhausted. Enjoy the picture. :)
This week started very sad for us. Our cat Butterscotch went missing on Sunday and we discovered she wasn't coming home on Monday morning. She was hit by a car trying to cross the busy street at the end of our road.
Butterscotch was as a gift for Jade in September of 2006 as a tiny kitten. She was a spunky trouble maker, and that never stopped. A great hunter, she liked to bring us lots of gifts. Dragonflies, humming birds, snakes, and rodents. I can't say I am going to miss the gifts. Butterscotch loved being outside and was only in the house when it was raining. One of her favorite games was to go out the cat door, come around the back of the house and knock for someone to get up and let her in. A lover of lazer lights, feather toys, and paper bags. She was a fluffy soft family member, and will be missed.
Where has the week gone? Doing weekly posts has really made me realize how quickly my 3 Amigos are growing up. I can see the changes in the pictures week by week. They are all learning new things and getting bigger. Ayla has been taking one step at a time for a couple of weeks now. She is now up to three steps, look out!
We got to have visitors this weekend. My Mom and Dad came to visit on Friday/Saturday. Nana went with us to ice skating, and we did a quick lap around the mall. We also went to Craft Warehouse and took advantage of their $5 craft Saturday activity. Jade made a cool piece of canvas art by melting crayons. Uncle Sam came down on Sunday to watch the super bowl and helped Chad work on the bathroom project. This project is taking way longer than either of us would like it to, but it'll get done.
